In 2006 Marvel's comic universe was torn apart by a civil war in the Super-Hero community, prompted by the introduction of the controversial Super-Human Registration Act. What follows is my attempt to chronicle the timeline of events.
Dates are inspired by publication dates but altered where events dictate.
May 2006
Day 1
The Stamford Disaster. A battle between The New Warriors and a collection of escaped villains ends in tragedy as Nitro blows up a school, resulting in hundreds of casualties. The Avengers, X-Men and the Fantastic Four assist with the clean-up (Civil War 1).
Tony Stark meets with President Bush and reveals that he is still Iron Man (Amazing Spider-Man 532).
Day 7
The Stamford Memorial Service is held. Johnny Storm is attacked in New York and is left in a coma (Civil War 1).
Day 8
The major heroes gather at the Baxter Building. On the SHEILD Helicarrier Commander Hill confronts Captain America. Refusing to hunt down his fellow heroes Captain America flees and goes underground (Civil War 1).
Day 9
Iron Man, Mr Fantastic and Yellowjacket attend a White House meeting on the Super-Human Registration Act (Civil War 1).
Day 12
Captain America has formed the Secret Avengers and is capturing supervillains to be picked up by SHEILD (Civil War 2).
Day 23
Iron Man and a collection of pro-Reg heroes defeat a rampaging Doom-Bot in New York. Sue Richards first hears of 42 (Civil War 2).
Day 29
In Avengers Tower Peter Parker discusses the possibility of publicly unmasking with Mary Jane and Aunt May (Amazing Spider-Man 532).
Day 32
The Super-Human Registration Act becomes law (Civil War 2).
Day 33
The Young Avengers are captured by SHEILD but are quickly freed by Captain America and The Falcon (Civil War 2).
At a press conference in Washington DC Spider-Man unmasks in support of the act (Civil War 2 & Amazing Spider-Man 532).
Peter returns to New York. Spider-Man meets the rest of the registered heroes whom Iron Man has drafted to find the Secret Avengers (Amazing Spider-Man 533).
Day 34
Doctor Octopus rampages near Midtown High School after seeing Spider-Man's press conference (Sensational Spider-Man 28).
Day 35
Peter Parker decides to quit his job at Midtown High. Mysterio III (Francis Klum attacks the school. The original Mysterio, visiting from Hell and Mysterio II also intervene (Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man 11-13).
Day 36-37
Chameleon forms a gang of villains to attack Peter Parker and his family (Sensational Spider-Man 29-31).
Day 43
Black Panther, Dr Strange and the X-Men all refuse to help hunt the Secret Avengers. However Bishop approaches Stark independantly (Civil War 3).
Day 48
SHEILD stages a disaster at a chemical plant to lure the Secret Avengers into a trap. In the ensuing battle Goliath is killed by the Thor Clone (Civil War 3 & 4).
Johnny Storm wakes from his coma (Civil War 3).
Day 49
The members of the Secret Avengers captured the night before are transported to 42. Captain America and his team attack the transport.
